Design Goals

  • Refining the craft of joinery, focusing on the precision and durability of well-executed tenon joints.

  • Create something unique and interesting

Background

Initial Ideation

Focusing on the intricacies of joinery was essential to unlocking unique aesthetics. In this case, the process dictated the design, rather than the other way around.

Inspiration

The design was heavily influenced by the Eames table and the sleek, aerodynamic silhouettes of surfboards.

Process

The complexity lay in the material preparation. Starting from a single slab required an intensive process of breakdown and re-assembly, where the joinery had to be both structurally sound and aesthetically cohesive.
